Born with albinism and legally blind, Fernando is from Ponce, Puerto Rico. Fernando’s interest and talent for STEM drew him to complete his degree in Chemistry- even though dissuaded by one of his instructors. He did a brief 2 year stint at the National Institutes of Health, where he developed expertise in laboratory management and began his volunteer advocacy work for persons with albinism who were visiting the NIH. Afterwards, he completed a graduate degree in chemistry and did his post graduate work in physics at Harvard University.
Fernando is a serial entrepreneur and founder of various companies. AS a founder, Fernando has taken his companies through some of the world most competitive accelerators. He is an alum of both TechStar and Y-Combinator, and other programs like Mass Challenge and the MIT VMS.
